There is something seriously off about this blog readability test. It’s supposed to tell you what level of education a reader will need, on average, to grok your site. JeremyLott.net came out like so:

That may be a flattering result, but it’s wrong.

Why? Because this site is written for a broad audience. The sentences, paragraphs, and posts are short. The vocabulary is as simple as I can manage without dumbing things down. When writing about current events, I assume readers are familiar with, say, what’s been on the Drudge Report for the last few weeks. Otherwise, I try to explain things.

The subjects that this blog covers — politics, movies, boogers, manners, (very) amateur photography — are not that hard to grasp. They are presented here in a style and at a length that should be accessible to most readers.
