David Weigel surveys Sam Brownback’s changing positions on immigration and the surge, asking: “Is there really no room in the GOP primary for a candidate who holds the majority viewpoints on immigration and the war?”

As it happens, yes: Ron Paul. (I happen to think that once you get into specifics the majority position on immigration is actually a bit more restrictive than Dave does, which probably accounts for our coming up with different answers to this question.) Now if only we could get the majority to come around to Paul’s positions on the income tax and the Federal Reserve.

One should always hold loud telephone conversations somewhere other than church.
